Port Byron High School Set to Present 'Legally Blonde: The Musical'

Port Byron High School is thrilled to announce its upcoming production of "Legally Blonde: The Musical," set to captivate audiences with its vibrant energy and unforgettable performances.

This highly anticipated event promises to be a spectacular showcase of talent, creativity, and passion from the students of Port Byron CSD. The musical follows the journey of Elle Woods, a fashionable sorority girl who embarks on a quest to win back her ex-boyfriend by enrolling in Harvard Law School. Along the way, Elle discovers her true potential and learns that she is capable of much more than anyone ever imagined.

Senior Abby Rice will be playing the lead role and is grateful and excited about the opportunity.

“I’ve been in drama club for six years now, and I never thought I would be the lead,” she said. “But it just goes to show that hard work really does pay off.”

Rice said she loves to play a character like Elle Woods, who shows that anyone is capable of anything. She also noted that Elle’s energy is something she can relate to.

“I’m very energetic as well, so it’s a perfect fit,” said Rice. “The dress rehearsal went really well. My brother even texted me and said, ‘I didn’t know you could sing like that!’”

Rice said the musical has something for everyone, and that the community will enjoy the comedy, songs, and messages behind the show.

Sophomore Jackson Reese, who will be playing Elle’s ex-boyfriend Warner, said the cast has worked extremely hard to present the best performances possible.

“The show has a lot of energy. And the songs have come a long way. Every person in the show has improved their singing so much,” he said.

Sophomore William Cuddeback, who will be playing the antagonist, Professor Callahan, said he and the cast are ready for showtime.

“We have all improved so much. I know I’ve really grown as a singer,” he said. “And we’re doing a lot. We had to learn Irish dancing. We had to learn comedy.”

Showtimes are set for Friday, March 8, at 7PM, and Saturday, March 9, at 2PM and 7PM. We hope to see you there!
