The Port Byron Central School District is part of a small, rural community located in northern Cayuga County approximately 35 miles west of Syracuse, New York. Approximately 950 students populate the district's two buildings. The A.A. Gates Elementary School, which serves UPK-sixth grade students, and the Dana L. West Jr.-Sr. High School, (grades 7-12) are connected and sit on the same campus in the village of Port Byron.
Port Byron Central School District provides a quality educational program. It is devoted to creating a challenging and rewarding learning environment for its students. Technology is used to engage learners of all ages and abilities. Supportive families, conscientious learners, dedicated staff and an involved community help to maximize opportunities for student success.
Students in Port Byron are actively involved in sports and Panther Pride is obvious in everything the school does. Annual student theater productions and a broad-reaching music and arts program also enhance student learning.
